What should I do first?
- Choose a mode whose survival pressure fits the run you want.
- Establish a safe return point before extending an expedition.
- Track immunity, food and hydration separately so you know what is sending you home.
- Prepare the laboratory before bringing back a specimen you cannot use.
If you already have a specific problem, choose the step you are stuck on or find the missing ingredient in items and materials.
Returning after launch?
Hotfix #4 extends crafting reach across a full-size room and stops food rotting in powered fridges. Check crafting reach and food storage before rebuilding your layout.
With Hotfix #5, built nests produce animal materials after animals move in. Use the Silicon ingredient route and fertilizer material guide to identify what you need.
Hotfix #6 repairs unavailable Compendium entries and retroactive achievement checks. If progress is stuck, use the Compendium and Memory Core checklist. For disappearing silo or miner range rings, see building placement checks.
Hotfix #7 repairs out-of-order Dust Storm and Decrypting Lake's Mysteries objectives when you load an existing save. Use the quest progression checks and the sleeping bag and demolition repair steps. Arachnophobia mode now replaces insects already in the world with rubber ducks as soon as you change the Accessibility setting; no reload is needed.
