Honeycomb B-Pipe: placement and Grow Bed fixes
Place the B-pipe in a clear room center, check stairs above and below, and diagnose Grow Beds that still will not grow plants.

THE SHORT ANSWER
A B-pipe needs the center of an eligible room. Stairs on either adjacent level can obstruct that position even when the gardening floor looks empty. Reserve the center before arranging your Grow Beds, then check light, water and power separately. A pipe that fits is only one part of a working greenhouse.
Before you begin
- An unlocked B-pipe and an eligible room
- Access to the floors above and below the growing room
- Working water and power for the laboratory
Find the obstruction before moving the beds
Begin with the room center. A B-pipe cannot simply occupy any spare patch of floor beside a bed. Stand where you can inspect the central position and check the room type before spending time rotating the same piece around its edges.
- Check the intended center on the gardening floor.
- Inspect the level immediately above it for stairs crossing that space.
- Inspect the level immediately below it for the same obstruction.
- Plan a stair route that leaves the pipe position available.
- Place the B-pipe before filling the remaining floor with growing equipment.
Looking only at the current floor can miss the cause. Moving a row of beds will not help if a staircase on another level still conflicts with the pipe. Keep the inspection local to that vertical space instead of dismantling an entire base.
If the pipe fits but the plants do not grow
Separate a placement problem from a supply problem. Grow Beds need light and a B-pipe; the laboratory also needs its water and power setup. Installing the pipe does not replace those services.
| Symptom | First check | Useful next action |
|---|---|---|
| B-pipe cannot be placed | Room center and adjacent stairs | Clear the vertical conflict, then retry placement |
| Pipe placed, ordinary crop fails | Light, water and power | Restore supplies before testing a rare plant |
| Ordinary crops grow, hybrid does not appear | Parents, growth stages and free space | Use the crossbreeding procedure rather than rebuilding the pipe |
| Growth stops after expansion | Supply components removed or relocated | Trace the changed water-and-power layout |
Use an ordinary specimen as your first check. If it grows successfully, you have a useful starting point for investigating a more demanding experiment.
Give the greenhouse a clear central space
Choose the gardening room before deciding where every stair and decorative object belongs. Keep the pipe position available, arrange beds where you can reach them, and leave a route for collecting and inspecting plants. A compact working room is more useful than a larger room whose central service cannot be installed.
For a new base, first complete the Water Pump → Wind Turbine → Multi Room setup. For an established base, inspect the rooms above and below before adding another gardening floor. Check each new growing area with a normal crop before moving valuable parent plants into it.
Expand without sacrificing the current crop
Before removing old infrastructure, identify which occupied growing equipment depends on it. In particular, preserve water access to active Grow Pods during reconstruction. Finish a useful harvest and save replacement seed stock before a major layout change.
After the rebuild, check services again and inspect a growing cycle. Once the room works, Plant Booster Darts can help with obtaining useful plant material; they are not a substitute for repairing a greenhouse that lacks its supplies.
